Today I had the excited pleasure to be one of the first people to try out the new Target Cafe in Eastland shopping centre! They were giving out free coffees for opening day but I also had breakfast as I was there since 8am to see Jessica Mauboy (See next blog)
The cafe had a nice cosy feel to it with retro colours, lounges, retro shaped chairs and way cool lighting! The staff were buzzing and full of smiles and although getting used to the new system, were doing a great job!
I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a bowl of fruit salad with yogurt as well as my usual weak latte.
I put my number on my table and waited for my coffee as they were doing them just in takeaway cups for the day. The head barista was amazing, pumping out the coffees and delegating like a pro! When he handed people their coffee it was with enthusiasm and you could tell that he loved his job!
My food looked amazing when it came out but I was a bit let down as the croissant was too crunchy, it also didn’t have butter on it which was a bit of a bummer as it would of made it a bit more softer.. My yogurt came out with oats on it when I asked for no oats but that can be forgiven as it tasted amazing and I worked around the oats!
The coffee was a nice generic coffee with a smooth creamy body and a slight bitter aftertaste. The bitter after taste put me off slightly but I don’t expect too much from a generic coffee.
So all up including the food, atmosphere and coffee, I give the Target Cafe a 7.5/10!
