The other week my Husband and I decided last minute to visit Ang Ang for dinner. Being at the new Eastland we were worried that we would not be able to find a seat but were happy when we were immediately shown to a table (One of the last ones)
The waitress brought us some water and asked us if we would like to order a drink or just stick with water. I thought that was really nice as we did not feel pressured and stuck with water.
As we were left looking over our menu the Japanese lanterns and light shades caught my eye. It really made the place look authentic as they boast about serving cuisines from all over Asia.
After looking over the menu we decided on beef satay skewers for entree and roti bread. For mains I ordered combination noodles and hubby ordered special fried rice. It took only 10-15 minutes for the food to arrive which was a huge surprise giving that the place was full, but when we tasted it you could tell why it was so quick!
The skewers were so tough that it was almost like chewing on beef jerky and I would not be surprised if they were pre cooked. The roti bread was dry and bland however the peanut sauce was the highlight.
The Fried rice was edible but lacked flavour and my combinations noodles were bland, thick and really difficult to eat. Given that I had high hopes for Ang Ang I was really disappointed!
So all up the service was okayish, the decor beautiful and the food quite ordinary and tasteless. I don’t know if I would go back as I would hate it if I had another bad experience..
All up I give Ang Ang by Chinta Ria Soul a 5/10..
