Today hubby had a late meeting so we decided to pop into Aunt Billies for breakfast. I watched their transformation on Facebook from Jam for Joe to Aunt Billies and had wanted to visit for a while.
After reading Miss Sage Sugar’s review I knew that this was the place for us to have our Wednesday breakfast, and I was not disappointed. This place really is the happy sunshine place 🙂
We were greeted by a waitress who showed us to a table right in the centre of the beautiful room. Right after taking our drink order (Yes I had a weak latte) I looked around and instantly felt happy. The yellows, the bright lights, the sunshine and the yellow daisies made the cafe perfect and welcoming.
After my coffee came I decided to order the pancakes with baked rhubarb, lemon curd, pistachio crumb, cream and a maple drizzle. I saw it on Miss Sage’s blog and could not go passed trying it!
My coffee was fantastic, full body, strong in flavour but not bitter and beautiful woody notes that tasted better with each sip! It was so good that I even got one to take away!
And now my pancakes. Wow pop in the mouth freshness! Firstly the pancakes were the best I have ever tasted! light and fluffy and just melt in the mouth. I was so jealous as I could never make them so perfect! The lemon curd and rhubarb gave me a beautiful sweet and sour combination and the maple syrup and cream were a dream. Such a big serve too, they did not skimp on ingredients at all! Yum yum yum!
Next time I come I am going to try one of their muffins or cakes as they have a huge selection along with ready made rolls and salads!
As hubby paid for the food I had a nice chat with one of the ladies working there. It was like talking to a friend over a coffee as we talked about school and school books and had a laugh.
Today was such a positive experience and there is nothing that I could fault. I don’t give perfect scores as I like to hold my cards close. So for Aunt Billies Cafe in Blackburn, which was basically perfect, I give them a 9.5/10 😀
