Hi amazing followers and avid foodies. It is so wonderful to bring you another food review good enough for you to sink your teeth into!
*I was invited* to visit The burger block in Kew today and try their amazing Asian fusion burgers. Formerly JD’s Burgers this place already had a reputation of being something special and I could not wait to see what they had to offer!
When I walked in I was met by the manager, Brenda who was very welcoming and full of smiles. We were shown to a table and told to choose anything from the menu. Now that is a dangerous statement to make to a foodie, kind of like giving someone a blank cheque!
There were so many options that it took me a little while to choose. My eyes boggled at the ‘Jack Hammer’ which boasted of 5 meat patties and the ‘Hot Chick’ sure enough to set your world on fire! In the end I decided to play it safe and ordered the ‘Chocka Block’ which is made up of meat pattie, American cheese, bacon, Spanish onions, lettuce, tomato and secret fusion sauce.
My companion chose the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ which is made up of fried chicken, American cheese, bacon, fried egg, Spanish onions, lettuce, tomato and Japanese mayo.
With that we also ordered small fries to share and a chocolate shake with their BB special dipping sauce.
Our burgers came out first and they looked super amazing. The Asian spices filled my senses and I was eager to take my first bite. It was almost like a Disney movie where you would see fireworks when I tasted the fusion of East meets West my taste buds exploded and I the delight in my eyes was evident that this was a pretty good burger. I would even go a step further to say that this was the best burger I have ever tasted! The sauce, the spices, the meat, everything just worked!
I also had a bite of the Yellow Brick road and it was everything that you could ask for in a chicken mayo burger. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the bun crisp but soft and it molded around the meat, the Japanese mayo was creamy and gave it a beautiful texture different from normal mayo and the onions gave it an edge that made me want more!
But the greatness doesn’t stop there! The chips were delightfully season, crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Accompanied with the special dipping sauce, these fries sure were special!
Finishing it off with a chocolate shake to Shake to shake it off, shake it off my belly and my taste buds were in burger heaven.
The burger block is definitely a winner. Open for breakfast and lunch you would go away each time feeling satisfied. The décor is Urban, the music laid back, the service full of smiles and the food is mouthwatering amazing!
All up for the amazing experience I had today, I give The burger block in Kew a 9.5/10!
