Last night my Husband and I had the lovely pleasure of dining at Oneworld Knox after invitation from Bill, the manager. I hadn’t been to Knox for a little while and was excited to try the amazing flavours of Oneworld.
As we approached the restaurant we were greeted by 2 friendly young ladies who ushered us in from the cold and showed us to our table. One of the young ladies came with the menu and explained the symbols and the flow of the menu. We were also given a drink menu to look over and there was plenty to choose from! From cocktails, to beers, to supershakes to pressed juices! In the end I chose a cold pressed apple juice and my Husband chose a lemon lime bitters.
Shortly after Bill the manager came over to our table and introduced himself. We asked about the menu and how diverse it was and wondered what the story was behind that. Bill explained that before the restaurant became Oneworld it used to be called Red Salmon and was that for 13 years. Bill had noticed along his travels that families and friends like to eat differently sometimes and to save the stress and debating of where to eat Bill created Oneworld. A one stop restaurant serving flavours from all over the world.
Looking over the menu I could see that as there were items such as Camel burger, Lasagna, Moroccan goat, Thai green curry, Butter chicken and so much more!
In the end I ordered mint, feta, zucchini and potato fritters served with a beetroot relish. For mains I ordered Paella Barcelona as paella is my ultimate comfort food, I could eat it any day at any time! And for dessert I could not go passed the Flan De Queso.
My Husband chose and entree of Calamari rings, Seafood marinara for mains and for dessert he chose a classic Sticky date pudding.
Our drinks came out and my cold pressed apple juice looked so cute! It had a gorgeous little decoration that really showed that there was care put into my drink. The juice was nice and cold and had added ice which was fab as I hate warm cold pressed juice!
Our entrees came and they look incredibly delicious! When I took the first bite of my fritter it was soft and flavoursome and accompanied with the beetroot relish it just popped! The calamari rings were a generous size and nice and soft which is perfect to me!
After we had finished out came the mains and I could not believe my eyes. There was such a generous serve of seafood in each dish and the mussels were enormous! I had not seen this in another restaurant yet. My paella was cooked aldante and had just enough spice to keep me entertained, but not enough to scare me off. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the flavours were fresh and full. The mussels were the highlight as they were fat and juicy, I even stole one from my Husbands bowl! His seafood marinara was glorious. I am not sure how they made the sauce but I want their recipe! So full of flavour and unique!
Last but certainly not least was dessert and what more can I say? Once again everything was made with perfection and presented as art on a plate. My flan was soft and creamy and the sticky date pudding was everything that you could want with a rich sauce. I also loved the chocolate syringe with the sticky date pudding. It seems to be popular in many Melbourne food places.
I was so happy with my experience tonight. The wait staff were warm and friendly, the manager helped his team with serving and gave a hands on approach to the customers and the decor was just stunning (see pics below) Oneworld is a modern restaurant with old fashioned charm bringing families and friends together to enjoy what the world has to offer. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner!
For my amazing experience last night, I give Oneworld at Knox a solid 9/10!
