A couple of months ago I purchased a Scoopon for $100 worth of food and drink for $50 at Michelino’s Trattoria. My husband loves Italian and I thought that it would be a great new place to try.
When we walked in the restaurant had an older feel about it. The decor was aged but in good condition. We were greeted by a lovely waitress and shown to a table by the window. Just off of Lygon st this was the perfect table as we watched the world pass us by.
We ordered drinks and proceeded to look over the menu. For entree we chose a shared antipasto platter for 2 and a cheesey garlic pizza. I had skipped eating that day and was sooo hungry. For mains I chose lasagna and hubby chose to mix penne marinara with a bolognaise sauce. A bit of surf and turf going on!
Our antipasto platter came out and it was full of Italian greatness such as ham, salami, smoked salmon, anchovies, feta, olives, sundried tomatoes and prosciutto! Everything was so so fresh and delicious!
We paired the platter with our cheesey garlic pizza and it was a pair matched in heaven. I could of just sat and eaten this all night, it was that good!!
During the entree 2 workers left and we were forgotten about. It was a good half an hour or so between entree and main as we had been forgotten about and we had to go and find someone!
My husbands penne came out and it was fully loaded!! I had never seen a dish with that much seafood before, including crab claws! All the ingredients were fresh and popping and I had total food envy.
My lasagna came out and it looked just like a lasagna haha. It was nice but not popping as the marinara and the flavours could of been a bit richer. However everything was fresh and cooked to perfection.
So all up with the fab food, service and decor, i give Michelino’s Trattoria an 8/10!
I’ve bean to Melbourne xx
