Hi amazing foodies. Sorry once again for the radio silence. Been busy on the job hunt and eating my way through Victoria haha. I am back though and I promise not to disappoint.
For those who know me, they would know that I try to find positives wherever I go. So one Saturday morning I decided to go treasure hunting in Frankston, and to my surprise found a beautiful gem of a cafe called Ol’ Mate Coffee.
Located at 465 Nepean hwy, tucked into a little corner is where you will find David and his team cooking up a storm and creating that perfect cup of magic coffee. Boasting of their own blend made by Common folk coffee roasters you can instantly tell that you are in for a treat.
We arrived and were greeted by David and settled into a nice table for 2. Looking over the menus you see cafe staples such as the Big breakfast, Eggs Benny, Egg and bacon roll and so on, you also see specials such as the Ruben sandwich, Frankies wagyu burger, Salami baguette and so much more. In the end I chose an egg and bacon roll and my Mr chose Frankies burger. Oh and my latte of course!
First came my latte and as you can see it was filled with love. The blend has a nice deep earthy taste with hints of milk chocolate and I could of had another cup or 2, it was that good!
My bacon and egg roll was delicious with a beautiful tomato chutney and Frankies burger had so many layers of flavour that it was like a playground for your senses.
The decor was modern meet shabby chic and felt really warm and inviting. I could see me sitting up my laptop on a cold day, looking out the window as I sipped coffee and just watching the world go by.
The service was with a smile, the coffee warm and comforting, the food cooked to perfection and the ambience made me feel at home.
In summary I highly recommend that you visit Ol’ mate if you are Frankston way, or even make the trip down there one weekend, you won’t be disappointed!
